As a state representative, Dario Anselmo led his community by example. He passed legislation that boosted Edina businesses with tax relief, equipped educators with funds, and actively protected the health of Minnesota’s lakes. His drive to bring lawmakers together has brought statewide advances in mental health and public safety.
Hailing proudly from Duluth, Dario grew up in Minneapolis’ western suburbs and has called Edina home for 20 years now. At the age of 21, he started his first company in Edina. After growing and eventually selling his business, Dario’s love of flying and music ultimately led him to another formative experience: owning the Fine Line Music Café in downtown Minneapolis. Through years of hard work, Dario transformed the Fine Line into a thriving business and cultural institution, hosting everyone from George Clinton to President Bill Clinton, Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5, and Lady Gaga. Dario continues to be involved in commercial real estate ventures.
Alongside his business ventures, Dario has been an active community leader for decades, focused on education, mental health, and creating a vibrant downtown. He’s served on the boards of the Edina Education Fund and Edina Give and Go, was president of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance for over 10 years, and is a longtime board member of the Minnesota Mental Health Association. Dario co-founded the Warehouse District Business Association in Minneapolis and served on the Minneapolis Downtown Council (a business advocacy group) for more than a decade.
Dario was honored to represent the people and priorities of Edina in the Minnesota House of Representatives as one of its most moderate members. In his term, he served on two education committees and two environmental committees. Dario was proud to put his “purple” message into action in St. Paul – bringing red and blue together to put people over partisan politics.
Dario loves getting out to hear live music, reading about history, hitting the road on his bike, and skiing with his family.
